Rentech, Inc. (AMEX:RTK) rose  26.40% up to $1.58 with huge volume on news the company has partnered with General Electric and Syngas to develop South Australia’s $3 billion coal-biomass-to-diesel Clinton project.  Rentech has agreed to provide its fuels production technology for the production of ultra-clean synthetic transportation fuels from synthesis gas (syngas) derived from fossil and biomass resources. Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, Rentech, Inc. is a lead provider of technologies that utilize domestic resources to produce ultra-clean synthetic fuels and chemicals.  The company licenses its proprietary Rentech Process, converting gas from coal, petroleum coke, biomass, natural gas, or municipal solid waste into liquid hydrocarbon products, including ultra clean diesel fuel, jet fuel, naphtha, specialty chemicals, and other fuel products.

BioFuel Energy Corp. (NASDAQ:BIOF) gained 14.93% up to $1.54 on no news; however the company recently reported net sales from their third quarter increased to $91.14 million,  from $90.55 million for the same period from the previous year. Headquartered in Denver, Colorado, BioFuel Energy Corp. produces and sells ethanol and related products in the US. The company currently operates two 110 million gallon per year ethanol production facilities in Fairmont, Minnesota and Wood River, Nebraska.
