(NASDAQ:ISIG) rose 10.34% up to $5.12 on news.  Insignia is currently in a legal dispute with Rupert Murdoch’s News America Marketing Group as the two advertising companies fight for control of the supermarket advertising business. Insignia claims that News America employees removed ads installed by Insignia in supermarkets which News America wanted to control. A recent motion filed by News America denies there is any evidence that happened. (NASDAQ: PEIX), $2.58, +1.155, 81.06%, is a producer and seller of ethanol and its co-products which include wet distillers grain and is also responsible for providing transportation, storage and delivery of ethanol within the Western United States.  PEIX hit a high today of 2.65 surpassing its previous 52 week-high of 1.50.  The company announced that its plant in Burley has resumed production after being shut down for about a year, amid falling corn prices and sharp market declines.

 

Eastern Platinum Limited (TSX: ELR), $1.30, +0.06, 4.84%, is a platinum group metals producer.  The company is currently engaged in the acquisition, development and mining of platinum group metal deposits in South Africa.  Shares of ELR have been steadily climbing.  The stock is trading up for the 6th trading day in a row.  ELR surpassed its 52 week-high today to 1.39 from 1.25.  Eastern Platinum has made the list of hot picks for 2010 by Raymond James.

 

Adventrix Pharmaceuticals Inc. VeraSun Energy Corporation (OTC:VSUNQ) grained  20.69% up to $0.0035 on no news.  Based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, VeraSun produces and markets ethanol and its co-products in the US.  The company filed for bankruptcy protection last year sold its corn-based ethanol plant in Hankinson, North Dakota for $92 million in October 2009.  VeraSun’s ethanol co-products include wet and dry distiller grains, which are used as animal feed; and corn oil that is used as an animal feed, as well as to produce biodiesel. The company also markets VE85, an ethanol blended fuel through arrangements with gas distributors and retailers.
